A Handful of Tips 72 –
Competitive Advantage
The five best tips on ways to create a competitive advantage
Aim to exceed your rivals in all facets of activity.
It’s the ability to deliver a consistently high quality product or service every time that brings clients back.
1. Establish explicit goals that are agreed upon by both workers and management
Discuss the common goals fully. They should be realistic and attainable.
They must benefit both parties if you want maximum support.
2. Set up simple and effective communication systems
Aim to get constant and honest feedback from both your staff and your clients.
You will need the support of both parties if you make any major changes.
3. Counsel, train, coach and encourage your workers
Employees should be coached and mentored so they are inspired to work more efficiently and effectively.
Training should be linked to real business situations and include creative and lateral thinking.
4. Give individuals responsibilities
Trust, confidence and accountability are the keys to success.
Show you have confidence and trust in your staff by delegating responsibilities. They will be accountable and respond positively.
5. Give rewards based on results
Reward staff who have performed well.
There are many ways to recognise achievement other than money.
