Another Handful of Tips 100R – Staying Healthy
The five best tips to stay healthy
If you don’t look after your body no one else will. It is your responsibility. It’s over to you!
Watch your diet and exercise regularly.
1. Maintain a balanced diet
Plan nutritious and regular meals.
Your diet should include plenty of fruit and vegetables and complex carbohydrates.
Reduce the intake of fats, sugar and salt.
Eat moderately.
Use plenty of common sense. Take little notice of fashionable health diets.
Reduce your intake of coffee and alcoholic drinks. Try alternatives like drinking water, green tea or healthy low-sugar juices.
Drink plenty of safe water.
Watch your weight. Use your bathroom scales as a guide to your food intake.
2. Exercise regularly
Don’t spend the day sitting in front of a computer. Move about as much as possible.
You don’t have to go to a gym to maintain fitness. Try walking up stairs instead of using a lift. Get off the bus one section away from your destination and enjoy a brisk walk.
Enjoy walking, tramping and exploring wild places. Play sport you enjoy.
3. Get enough sleep
Most adults need 7-8 hours’ sleep a night.
If you are physically tired you will sleep sounder.
Don’t watch too much television. Enjoy music but not too loud. It could damage you hearing.
Enjoy the tranquillity of the night.
4. No smoking, no illegal drugs
Smoking and drug-taking are harmful to the body. If you have a problem seek professional help.
Don’t take too many pills as many have bad side effects.
5. Have regular medical checks
Maintain good dental and eye care.
Enjoy life, enjoy family and friends and keep smiling!
