‘CHARGING YOUR BATTERY’
The end of a year is a stressful time. Deadlines need to be met, social activities kept and future plans made.
Many organisations close down for a ‘holiday break’ at the end of the year.
If possible get away from your work. Reduce your stress by taking time out. Try to ‘charge your battery’ and return fresh in the new year.
Five of the best tips to reduce stress
* Engage in total relaxation
Take a holiday. Get plenty of sleep. Don’t be in a hurry to rise in the mornings. Have some lazy days.
Play sports you enjoy, such as table tennis with the kids, or bowls with friends. Watch tennis or cricket.
* Forget work
Try to put your cell phone in a draw and keep away from your computer.
Read books and enjoy music.
Explore new lands and new environments.
Go swimming, tramping and fishing.
* Have fun
Do the things you enjoy most.
Spend more time with your family. Play with your children.
Take up painting, making or repairing things. Enjoy your garden.
* Eat nutritious foods
If you enjoy cooking take the time to make delicious meals and share them with your family and friends.
* Get physically fit
Go for long walks. Explore.
Go swimming or jogging.
During your break try to get your career and life in perspective. Are your enjoying your job? Do you need to make changes in your life and in your career?
Consider new challenges for the coming year.
Start formulating plans for your future.
A new year is a good time to make a fresh start when your battery is fully charged, after a break from your daily work pressures.
Don’t procrastinate. Start working on your vision!
