Rolling On – The Best Handful of Tips 109 – TRAINING Strategies

TRAINING Strategies

The key that unlocks the door to opportunities is learning.

          To maximise your earning power maximise your learning power.

          Training can be a rewarding and satisfying task.

Five strategies to improve your training skills

* Speak slowly

          Use simple words and more repetition than normal.

          Reduce note-taking and increase the number and quality of handouts.

* Use good visuals

          We are more likely to remember a visual aid than the spoken word.

* Keep training relevant

          Adapt your training material to suit your audience.

          Make greater use of local examples to illustrate the points you are making.

* Watch body language

          Monitor trainees’ body language and facial expressions.

          Attempt to obtain verbal feedback by asking trainees questions during training, while working in groups, or during breaks. Make a break between topics and chat to trainees.

* Reinforce your message

          At each session, revise the main points of the previous session.

          Good trainers use a threefold approach to training. “Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you have told them.”

Geoffrey Moss

“The greater the involvement the more people will learn.”
