Make the best use of your time. Time is a valuable commodity. Whether you are a President, a Prime Minister, or a labourer we all have a twenty-four-hour day. It’s how we use our time that makes all the difference.
There is one thing you can’t recycle and that’s wasted time.
Five tips to help you use your time more efficiently
*Take the time to plan your tasks
For peace of mind, ration your time. An hour spent planning can save you days later on.
To get things done you can work longer hours, you can work more efficiently or you can do only the important tasks and delegate the rest to others.
*Set your goals
Break each goal down into small, achievable steps. Tackle one step at a time and concentrate on that step until completed, then move on to the next step.
*Set priorities
Devote your time to critical issues. Make a ‘to-do’ list of tasks. Arrange them in order of importance and indicate when they should be completed.
Set your tasks for the following day before leaving work. The full use of today is the best preparation for tomorrow.
Lose an hour in the morning and you will look for it for the rest of the day.
Do the things that are urgent first. Don’t waste time on unimportant activities.
Avoid procrastination. Planning and perseverance are the keys to getting things done on time.
*Set yourself deadlines
You will get more done if you set deadlines and tell others about your plan.
*Delegate activities
Delegate your least important tasks.
You are only as good as your staff so recruit with care. Train them to take responsibilities and delegate and challenge them with worthwhile tasks.
