Restructuring YOUR Business
Change is a continuing process, not a goal, a constant journey, not a destination.
Managers were advised to be fair, consistent, insistent, and persistent. But today a good manager is a team leader, a good communicator, a coordinator, a facilitator, and a mentor. Times have changed.
A handful of tips to remind you.
* Reorganising the business
In many well-established organisations working conditions have become constipated and rules have becomes fixed.
But in others constant change is normal. There is nothing wrong with change if the working climate is one seeking perfection, faster service and reduced costs.
Delegating quality control and full responsibility to the point of action can save much time, effort and money as well as giving workers greater job satisfaction.
* Your top priority
What is a manager’s top priority – your shareholders, your staff or your clients?
It must be the staff. Unless they are happy and enthusiastic the clients won’t be satisfied and consequently, the shareholders will suffer.
* Build a strong corporate culture
Find the best people you can, train them, give them clear instructions and allow them to do the job their way.
People have a basic need to make a difference – they want to achieve. Help them achieve.
Never be too busy to talk to staff – particularly if something is upsetting them.
* Motivate your people
There are four things that will help motivate your staff.
-
Pride in doing a good job.
-
More responsibility.
-
Personal growth and development.
-
Advancement and the recognition of achievement.
