Looking for WORK? – Rolling On – Management Tip 37o

Looking for WORK?

Many people are seeking employment these days.

           You may have been made redundant, returning to work after raising a family or have been doing a full-time study.

          If you are looking for employment start by trying to build up your confidence and your self-esteem. This can be as important as retraining.

A handful of tips to help you get work

* Smarten up your appearance

          Make sure you are well presented. Dress well.

          Get fit so you feel healthy and ready for the challenge.

Meet new people

          Get involved in new activities.

           Increase your confidence and self-esteem by joining clubs and organisations and be prepared to take on new responsibilities.

          Who you know can be more important than what you know when it comes to job hunting.

*  Learn new skills and update your old ones

          Study recent developments in technology and communications.

          Enrol for courses to learn new skills.

          Prepare a unique C.V. or resume emphasizing your experiences and past achievements. What things are you most proud of?

*  Start job-hunting

          Contact people who you think might be able to help, especially friends and family.

          Make time each day to go job hunting.

          Get listed with employment agencies.

          Find out what employers want.

          Be prepared to take on temporary jobs or help as a volunteer to prove your worth.

* Believe in yourself

          Brush up the skills needed for specific particular jobs.

          By joining organisations and clubs you will gain confidence and the ability to achieve greater success when job hunting.

          Prepare well for interviews and act confidently.

          Get organised and plan your daily routine so you can maintain your motivation.

          Start working at home keeping regular ‘office’ hours. Keep busy!
