Rolling On – Management Tip 51 – PLAN Your TASKS’

PLAN Your TASKS

For your peace of mind ration your time.

        Your time is a valuable commodity. Everyone has the same amount  – a twenty-four-hour day. It’s how we use our time that makes all the difference to our success or failure.

        Your wasted time is one thing you can’t recycle so make the most of what you have.

Here’s a handful of tips to help you on your way

* Do your important jobs first

         An hour spent planning can possibly save days later on.

        To get things done you can work longer hours, you can work more efficiently,  or you can do only the important tasks and delegate the rest to others.

* Set your goals/tasks/jobs

Write them down.

        Break each down into small, achievable steps. Tackle one step at a time and concentrate on that step until completed, then move on to the next. Do it as well as your time permits – without the loss of quality.

* Make a to-do-list then set priorities

        Devote your time to your critical issues.  Arrange them in order of importance and indicate when they should be completed.

        Set your tasks for the following day before leaving work. The full use of today is the best preparation for tomorrow.

        Lose an hour in the morning and you will look for it for the rest of the day.

        Do the things that are urgent first. Don’t waste time on unimportant activities.

        Avoid procrastination. Planning and perseverance are the keys to getting things done on time.

Set deadlines

        People work best when they are given deadlines. You will get more done if you set deadlines and tell others about your plans.

* Delegate your least important tasks

        You are only as good as your employees. Recruit with care. Train them to take responsibilities and delegate and challenge them with worthwhile tasks.
