Dynamic organisations must realise that every effort should be made to constantly improve all activities – all the time. Training can be the catalyst for their success.
Managers and people leaders must have a strong coaching role. Their job is to develop stronger teams and to try to help people reach their full work potential.
By developing replacement leaders it permits them to move on to more challenging and higher paid jobs.
To be able to carry out this role it is essential to develop their own questioning and listening skills as these are essential to help establish a strong empathy with people.
A handful of tips to help you build stronger teams
*First establish a good rapport
Good employers make a special effort to establish trust and rapport with their people.
One of the most important jobs is to spend time chatting to them and to their clients. To be able to do this it is necessary to have a good personal- assistant and be prepared to delegate some of your more time-consuming activities to others.
*Arrange for systematic training and coaching
This can often be done by challenging people to carry out special assignments or by moving them around the organisation to gain wider experiences.
Challenge people with graduated step by step experiences to help build their confidence.
Try to make coaching an enjoyable experience.
*Feedback is the key to improvement
Give regular feedback and helpful constructive reports on their progress. Also, get regular feedback from the people you are training and coaching.
*Reward effort and achievements
A sense of achievement can be satisfying, especially achievement in learning.
Praise good work and encourage people to improve. By giving small rewards when each step has been completed satisfactorily can be an incentive.
*New skills must be practised
As soon as possible make use of the new skills learned. People become frustrated if the new skills are not used to the advantage of the organisation or the worker.
Encourage with praise, build confidence with challenging experiences. Give honest and constructive feedback.
Increased business profits are the rewards of sound training and coaching.
