CONFERENCES – Rolling On – Time Saver Tip 15

CONFERENCES –

Plan and organise thoroughly

       Today many conferences and conventions are held on line but soon life will be back to normal and we will be returning to mass meetings once again.

       If you are the organiser of such an event you must plan early and start with a few basic questions.

A handful of tips to organise a successful conference

* Why is this Conference\Convention being held?

     What are the aims of the organisation?

       Why have a meeting?

       What do we hope to achieve?

       Who do we hope will attend?

       How many people will we be able to accommodate?

       What is our budget?

       Will I need help?

* Build a working team

     If it is a big event you will need help and then your role will be one of a coordinator and communicator.

* Delegate tasks to other

       Select people who have the time and ability to get things done.

       If they agree to a role, list their responsibilities in writing to them.

* What is the theme?

     Know what topics you want discussed.

* Select speakers with care

       Chat to your selected speakers. If they agree to deliver give them full instructions in writing.

       Ask them for a background paper so their introducer can give them a good introduction,

       Success can only be obtained by good early planning and by delegating tasks to competent helpers.
