Avoiding CONFLICTS –
Conflicts are a normal part of life caused by such things as personality differences, jealousies and poor communication.
Most conflicts result from misunderstandings.
A handful of tips to help you reduce day-to-day conflicts
* Keep people better informed
Especially of developing situations and proposed actions.
Never favour some people and denigrate others.
Don’t embarrass people by criticising them in public or making fun of them or their ideas.
* Be honest and straightforward with people
Address conflicts head-on.
If you are not happy about a situation say how you feel and say why you believe there is a problem – be honest.
Don’t criticise, complain or blame.
Be honest with people and always try to get to the root of a problem.
* Confront your problems
Ask simple questions.
Listen first – talk second!
* Involve antagonists in planning and decision making
Encourage collaboration.
Avoid name dropping to support your arguments.
If you can follow these simple tips it will make your life much easier and save you much stress and time.
