CONFLICTS – Resolving Differences – Time Saver Tip 18

CONFLICTS –

Most conflicts are caused by misunderstandings.

       Deal with minor disagreements fast because;  “A small leak can sink a large ship”

       A good leader doesn’t try to eliminate conflicts but tries to keep people from wasting their time and energy on them.

       The goal of conflict resolution is not to decide which person is right or wrong,  it is to reach a solution that everyone can live with.

A handful of tips to help you resolve your next conflict.

* Define the conflict

     Look at it from both sides. Jot down your conclusions.

* Analyse the real situation

       Set up a time and place to discuss the conflict without interruptions.

       Talk about your feelings and personal reasons for differences. Consider historic reasons.

       Be honest and frank.

* List possible solutions to resolve differences

       Examine and discuss all the alternatives.

       Be prepared to compromise  and to select the best alternative.

* Plan the action needed to resolve differences

       What changes are needed?
