INTERVIEWS –
When applying for a job
You only get one chance to make a good impression so do your homework and dress well for the occasion.
There may be many others applying for the same position so aim to be the best applicant.
A handful of tips to help you get work
* Do your homework thoroughly
Research the organisation you hope to join.
Talk to staff members.
Seek and read their annual report.
Carefully read the job description and work out your responses.
Follow the requested application method.
* Dress suitably
Find out the dress code of the organisation an make sure you dress accordingly. It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed.
* Be punctual
Arrive early so you can relax and be composed before your interview.
Often a short walk before your interview will help you relax.
Take care not to drink too much coffee or alcohol before your time.
Make a toilet stop your last task.
* Take references
Take references, curriculum vitae, and certificates in case they are needed, but don’t flaunt them.
* Be modest and honest
Don’t talk too much.
Don’t dominate the interview.
Let the interviewers ask the questions. Pause and think about your answers.
Try to answer concisely and honestly, be prepared to amplify if asked.
Show you are enthusiastic to get the job and you are ambitious to succeed.
