JOB SATISFACTION –
Enjoying work
Having carried out jobs in many countries, some I have enjoyed and others I have not. I am now in a position make a few suggestions.
Life is too short to have a job you do not enjoy. If you are not happy at work start looking for a job you will enjoy.
Think of the times you have enjoyed your work. Think of the times when you have been frustrated. This makes a good starting point to make you a successful leader.
Start considering the needs, satisfactions and requirements of others.
A handful of tips to help you become a good leader
* Achievements
We all like a challenge and we get great satisfaction when we know we have done a good job and we are appreciated for our work.
* Recognition
Praise is one of the best ways to give people some job satisfaction – and its cheap! It gives people a sense of purpose.
* Responsibility
People like being given responsibility. That’s why it is so important to delegate tasks down to where the action takes place.
* Work itself
When you are satisfied you are being paid well for your time and effort and you have a suitable wage to live a comfortable life.
* Growth and advancement
When you are advancing in your career and being well trained for future roles.
As a leader, never forget these handful of tips when managing people. These are some of the conditions that make work more enjoyable and give people greater work satisfaction.
Never forget you are only as good as the people you recruit, train and manage.
