SPEECHES – To Persuade –

        To persuade an audience your task is to influence people so they agree  with your argument and hopeful take the action you recommend.

        Make sure your keep repeating your recommendation several time in this type of speech.

A handful of tips  to persuade your audience to take the action you are recommending

* At the beginning  

        At the start spend time establishing a rapport with your audience. Seek common ground and concerns. “I went to school in this town and have happy memories but I now have my concerns.”

        At this stage try to share your emotions and feelings with them.

* Give a quick factual overview

      Give your concerns. 

* Explain the need

         Dramatise your presentation by acting out the  alternatives.

          How will it affect members of the audience?                          

* Give a solution

       Explain alternative recommendations  to overcome the problem.

        Say why you think which one is the best solution.

         Show how your ideas will work.                   

Reinforce your message with facts, a demonstration, or by using convincing visual aids.

* Conclude with a memorable summary

       Tell them once again how they will benefit from your recommendation.

      Explain the action they need to take and conclude with a memorable summary.

      Try to finish with a climax to your speech.

“Not only will you benefit, but your children and their children will also gain if you take this action, now!”
