THINKING TIMES –
The way you think determines the way you act. The way you act will decide your future.
We all have one thing in common – a 24 hour day. It’s how we use that time that makes the difference.
Thinking time is essential for solving problems and hatching new ideas.
Good ideas need to be well thought through – they need ‘incubation time’.
Take time to work through issues – never feel guilty!
Pressure to perform does tend to impact of times to think.
Make a decision to make thinking time – schedule it!
A handful of tips on some of the best ways to make time to think and plan
* Get organised
What is your the best time of the day for thinking? It might be when you are taking a bath, or in the shower, or waking up in bed in the mornings. Set aside this precious time and use it well.
* Find a quite haven away from distractions
Slip out of your office and take a walk to ponder work issues.
You could inform colleagues you don’t want to be disturbed, but this is easier said than done.
Schedule quiet thinking times and make the most of these uninterrupted times.
* Turn off your cell phone
Transfer calls to others.
Refrain from reading emails. (Emails should be read and answered at specific times, not when you get bored.)
* Plan and schedule your thinking times
There’s an old English proverb that goes something like this; “Early to bed, early to rise makes one healthy, wealthy and wise.”
Try to arrive at work early before the other workers. It is amazing how much thinking time you will gain in your first hour when you are not being interrupted.
* Make use of your travelling times
Travelling gives you time to think, especially on a train, bus or on an aircraft.
Visiting different environments lets you to see things through new eyes, gives you new ideas and often a new perspective.
Unless your time is well managed nothing else can be managed.
For a successful career dream and make time to think and to work through your problems and issues – never feel guilty and don’t keep looking at your cell phone for inspiration!
