A Good LEADER – Rolling On 38

A GOOD LEADER  –

        A good leader is a ‘people’s person’, a motivator, a coach, a good communicator, an enthusiast, and one who sets good examples. It’s not an easy job!

        Good leaders are honest, fair, consistent, insistent, and persistent.

        When you ask people why they like their boss words like ‘encouraging’, ‘caring’ ‘fairness’ and ‘understanding’ keep coming up.

        A good leader thinks and speaks clearly, keeps things simple, and makes decisions confidently.

A Handful of Tips to help you become a successful leader

* Set a good example

        Always treat your people with respect.

        Moral, social and work ethics are very important when setting a good example.

        The way you dress, the way you organize your work, the way you speak, are all important characteristics.

* Show no favoritism

        Be fair to all people.

        Avoid prejudices. Be fair to all,  regardless of race, religion, or gender.

        Spend time chatting to people and listen to their suggestions, ideas, concerns and family problems. Questioning and listening are very important characteristics.

        Encourage your people to talk and share their ideas and views through coaching and training.

* Give clear and decisive instructions

        Employees like bosses with a vision who give clear and decisive instructions and keep to them, so everyone knows exactly what is expected of them.

* Delegate responsibilities

        Be prepared to hand down responsibility and authority to suitable people where the action takes place.

* Give credit where credit is due

“Thank you. You did a good job”  are powerful words.

These are greatly appreciated if given in writing.

        Support and encourage people to work towards the goals of the organization.

        A good leader is tactically proficient.  They inspire and motivate people to go beyond what they thought they could accomplish.
