Reactivate PEOPLE –
People work harder when they are encouraged and there is something in it for them.
Many people get bored with their job and their productivity declines. When this happens counsel them and challenge them with new tasks.
The most important act in motivation is individual recognition.
Job enrichment is the key to motivating your team.
A handful of tips to help you reactivate people
* Council people
Ask them about their life goals and their objectives.
What do they want from their work?
Explain you want to help them.
Identify their strengths and weaknesses.
Isolate areas of concern and discuss problems.
Listen to their work and personal troubles. Counsel them if you can, or arrange for a professional counselor if required.
* Seek their advice
Ask them for their ideas on ways to improve their work and their output.
Reassure employees you are interested in their ideas and their work and you plan to follow their progress on a regular basis.
* Move people into new tasks
Suggest new challenges and seek their reaction and views.
Offer to arrange to train them for new jobs.
Stimulate them by suggesting new career prospects. “Shortly we will be opening a new branch office and we will be needing a manager.”
* Rewrite job specifications
You could draw up a new work expectations program giving them new roles.
* Encourage people to improve themselves
Suggest they study and train for supervision and management roles.
Encourage them to join outside organizations and to take leadership roles.
Ambitious workers make the best people to recruit, hold, and train.
Some motivational words to consider.
“Could you please…I am proud of you… You did a great job ….What do you think?… I admit I was wrong…We will try…Thank you.”
