Ration Your Time
For your peace of mind ration your time.
Everyone has a twenty-four-hour day. It’s how you use your time that makes all the difference.
You can’t recycle wasted time – make the most of what you have.
A Handful of Tips to get more tasks done
* Do important jobs first
Before starting a task, pause and think through how you will tackle it. An hour spent planning can possibly save you days.
To get things done you can work longer hours, you can work more efficiently, or you can do only the important tasks and delegate the rest.
* Set your goals
Write down your goals and your objectives.
Set down what you hope to achieve in simple language. “This week I plan to complete the following five tasks….”
For large tasks break them down into small, achievable steps.
Tackle one step at a time and concentrate on that step until completed, then move on to the next.
Do tasks as well as your time permits – without the loss of quality.
* Make a to-do-list
Devote your time to your critical issues. What needs to be done first?
Arrange them in order of importance and indicate when they should be completed.
Set your tasks for the following day before leaving work.
The full use of today is the best preparation for tomorrow.
Lose an hour in the morning and you will look for it for the rest of the day.
Do the things that are urgent first. Don’t waste time on unimportant activities.
Avoid procrastination.
Planning and perseverance are the keys to getting things done.
* Set deadlines
People work best when they are given deadlines.
You will get more done if you set deadlines for yourself and if you tell others your plans.
* Delegate
You are only as good as your team.
Recruit with care. Train them to take responsibility and delegate and challenge them with worthwhile tasks – ones that will give them satisfaction when completed.
