A NEW YEAR – Odds & Ends 24

We cannot change the past. What’s past is past. But the future can be different if we choose to make it so. So waste no time with vain regrets.

Think hard, take stock, make fresh plans, and start afresh!

A Handful of tips to help you start this new year.

Clean up your clutter

Arrive back at work, full of vigour and full of new ideas. Be ruthless! Clean up the rubbish from your past. Your first task is to dispose of the things you don’t need.

         Clean up your computer files.

Make plans

What do you aim to do this year? Look for a new job?, study?, network by joining a new professional or social club, or group?

One of the great pleasures in life is to do the things others say, you cannot do. Aim to start by building your confidence this year.

Aim high – aim for self-improvement.

Where do you want to be at the end of the year?

Set Your Priorities

Take control of your time. Decide on the things that are really important to you – ration your time accordingly.

Life is too short to waste time on trivia.

You can achieve great things if you aren’t too busy doing little things.

Don’t become a slave to others. Don’t be frightened to say; Sorry, I am too busy at the moment.

New Skills

Today the world is dynamic. Changes are the norm. Resolve to keep up with new developments.

Keep learning new skills or you will be left behind and possibly be made redundant.

This year make a special effort to improve your communication skills, to help get your ideas accepted. This will give you added confidence in your ability to succeed.

Be an achiever

You will be judged on what you achieve this year.

Make a special effort to meet all deadlines and complete your tasks well.

Treat your colleagues and customers the way you would like to be treated.

If you do these simple things well you will go a long way.

You must know where you are heading, so set your goals for a special year ahead.
