Become More Confident – ODDS & ENDS 26

It’s surprising what you can do if you make an effort to improve your confidence.

          You can do this by making an effort to do a few simple things.

          If you have confidence in yourself, others will have confidence in you too.

A Handful of Tips to help you to improve your confidence

* Accept new challenges

          Never decline a task because you are unsure if you can do it – how will you know until you try?

* Keep upgrading your skills.

          Continually upgrade your skills and learn new ones – especially your communication skills. By performing in public, in a debating club, a Toastmasters club, a drama group, or a choir, you will gain confidence.

          Study, attend summer schools, or take night classes.

          Internet study courses are well worth gaining confidence and learning new skills at a pace that suits you.

*  Try new things

          Join clubs or worthwhile organisations.  You can gain new skills outside work by taking on responsibilities in sports clubs, or service clubs such as the Lions, and Rotary.

          Toastmasters International is a good organisation to help you improve your communication and confidence.

          Make an effort to network. Meeting new people from other walks of life, especially from other countries, helps build your confidence.

          Supporting new immigrants’ transition into their new life will help both parties.

* Master meeting skills

          All organisations have meetings and all use some form of procedures.

          By learning how to run a meeting and how to delegate tasks you will build your confidence and your leadership skills.

           The art of delegation is an important skill to master.

*  Travelling

          Traveling builds confidence.

          You will be challenged into all sorts of strange situations – you see the world through new eyes and gain confidence in ways to cope with unusual events.

          Life’s battles don’t always go to the strongest or the fastest person.  The person who usually wins is the one who thinks they can.

          When your confidence increases your competence increases.
