Overcoming STRESS & Worry

 

The unexpected has occurred!

          Many people have no work and little money, many are working from home and many are undergoing stress and worry.       

          What can you do to reduce your stress and worry levels?

          Before you start taking steps you must fully understand the problems you are facing.

          Go somewhere quiet and give thought to some of these recommendations.        

A handful of tips to help reduce your stress and worry levels        

* Get organised

          If you can learn to relax you can add years to your life. There is an old saying –

 “A  bow too tensely strung is easily broken.”

          Make an effort to reorganise your life to reduce your stress levels. List your various alternative strategies and put your ideas into the best choice list.

          Consult someone you trust to see if they agree with your thoughts and ideas.

          Your scarcest resource is your time so ration it.

          Prioritise your more important tasks.

          Don’t get overcommitted. Learn to say; “Sorry I am too busy right now.”

          Learn to plan ahead. If possible, plan tomorrow’s tasks today. Try to switch off when you stop work. Turn off your electronic devices.

          Plan relaxation time with family and friends.

* When working from home

          Make the most of your bonus time. The time you save by not having to travel to work.

          There are many tasks you have been meaning to do. Clean out your draws. Upgrade your accommodation. Replant the garden.

          Why not study online for a new qualification?

          The longer you worry and procrastinate the harder life becomes.

* Learn to take breaks when working

          Don’t work for long periods. Take short breaks at regular intervals.

          To sleep well you need to be physically tired.

          After work exercises such as swimming, jogging and walking are good and cheap ways to relax. Try walking upstairs.

          There is an old proverb? “Early to bed, early to rise makes a person, healthy, wealth and wise.”

* Watch your health

          If you don’t look after your body no one else will.  Be aware of what your body is telling you. Have regular medical checks. Maintain good dental and eye care. Watch your weight.

          Eat good wholesome foods and try to maintain a well-balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

          Don’t take too many pills and restrict your intake of coffee and alcoholic drinks. keep away from drugs and tobacco!

* Reward yourself

          When you have done a good job reward yourself. Have a break. Enjoy a good book and play the music you enjoy. Why not consider taking up a new hobby.

          At the moment it is best to socialise online but do plenty of that to help reduce your stress.

          Work hard but have fun. Learn how to switch off, relax and enjoy life. New challenges can be rewarding.
