Get a Job You ENJOY – Management Tip 11

        Life is too short to have a job you do not enjoy. If you are not happy at work start looking for a job you will enjoy.

         Think of the times you have enjoyed your work. Think of the times when you have been frustrated. This makes a good starting point to start looking for a new career.

         This is the time of the year to start planning and to start hunting for new work.

         This year make a special effort to increase your confidence and your self-esteem –  believe in yourself!

         Success occurs when opportunity and preparation meet. It’s never too late to change direction.

Some tips to help you find a job you will enjoy

* Take stock

         What are your strengths? Your needs? Your Interests? Your skills?  Your qualifications?

         Write these down. This is your starting point.

* Reflect and plan

         Are you happy? What do you want?

         Where do you want to live when you retire?

         Are you earning enough money for a comfortable life?

         Are you saving enough for a time when you are not earning money –  such as in your retirement, or when you have bad health?

* Start Hunting

         Talk to friends and family to see if they have any good ideas and job leads once you have made a decision about the type of job you want.

         Prepare a good C.V. and seek help from employment agencies.  Get your name on their books.

* Become Your Own Boss

         Have you any hobbies that could be turned into a business? I know a number of people who have done this.

         Read our FREE book “NO JOB! WHAT NOW? You will find a list of 45 suggestions for some home-based work to consider.

* Don’t Jump Too Soon

         If you do set up your own business make sure you have sufficient returns to pay your rent and living costs.

         Keep working in the job you do not enjoy until you can safely make the switch. Or transition to part-time in both jobs.

* Your Potential

         Life is too short not to enjoy your work.

Keep hunting until you find the job you enjoy. Often they can be found in large organisations that have strong challenging development plans, or by challenging yourself to set up your own business.
