CARDS – Management Tip 27

Smart Business Cards

To be remembered use a  business card.

         Today they are essential for a courteous introduction and an invitation to further contact.

         Make your card a talking point and a memory jogger for the recipient – be clear, and different.

         In Asian countries, it’s a common practice to admire and make a comment on the card you have been given.

A Handful of Tips to produce a memorable card

* Dimensions

         The standard size is 9cm x 5.5cm. so it will fit into a common reference file.

         Use a quality card printed with a strong typeface in solid colours.

* Contents

         Feature your name, your position, your organisation, your addresses, and your role in the organisation.

         Some people include a personal photo for easy recognition.

* Qualifications

         If you are selling a service include your qualifications, e.g., “M.Sc”, “Ph.D.”.

* Logo

         If you have a memorable logo – use it.

         Take care your card is not cluttered. Add a sales message, if appropriate.

 “We are the best!” “It’s putting right that counts.”

* Be different

         Try to be creative and produce a card that is different – make it memorable!

  1. Good stuff Geoff.

    My main bitch is the fonts for the essential info is far too small – a point you make. I told one company exec to supply a Blardy microscope with their card!

    Key info is phone number and email. Especially the email. Cheers
