Accept Changes
Today it’s more important to ask ‘What’s new?’ than, ‘How’s business?’
How’s business is about the past. What’s new is about the future.
It’s in the future where you will be spending the rest of your life. Aim to keep your finger on the pulse of business trends and new developments.
Here are a few of my thoughts to start you thinking about this topic.
A Handful of Tips to help you on your way
* Change
Nothing is constant except change.
Success means growth and growth means change.
* Reorganisation
Businesses in the future will need to become more flexible and adaptable.
There will be more partnerships and more joint ventures.
There will be greater work decentralisation with more people working from home.
There will be more out-sourcing, franchising, re-engineering, and downsizing.
There will be an increase in part-time and contract workers.
Artificial intelligence will change or replace many jobs.
Whenever an organisation is audited the team recommends one of two things – to decentralise, or the opposite, to centralise – it’s so predictable.
Workers in industrial parks in some countries work an eight-hour day 365 days a year. They sign on for a limited time, often several years. The factories work non-stop day and night, except for breakdowns.
People will need to seek new kinds of work or start their own businesses. See my free book “No Job ! What Now?” for some suggestions.
* Re-education
There will be a more educated workforce
with more emphasis put on training and re-training with much of it on online training.
Today staff retention is a major issue.
More new managers will be employed from outside organisations – to get ‘fresh blood.’
There will be fewer people starting at the bottom and working their way to the top of organisations – there are pros and cons to this.
* Environment
Working hours will change as people with families will work from home or during untraditional hours. The output will be the main consideration and being on-call at all times will become a feature of future work.
Office spaces will change with greater security in the workplace.
Large company offices will downsize and move to areas with cheaper rents.
Some company buildings will be sold off, then rented back.
There will be more hot-desking, where workers will share desks during different hours worked.
* Climate Change
Companies, countries, and clients will have to make compromises to benefit the environment. Climate change is a major issue.
What trends can you see emerging?

An important reminder from Geoff Moss that monitoring change in your business environment is critical.
So many companies come to mind that have failed to adapt.
